ASST. PROF. DR. AHMET ÖZEL

Ahmet Özel was born in Biga, Çanakkale in 1960. After graduating from Kabataş High School for Boys in 1976, the artist started his education at the State Academy of Fine Arts, Painting Department, and graduated from IDGSA Painting Department in 1982. He also completed his graduate education at the same school. Between 1987-88, he conducted art research in Rome and Florence with an Italian art scholarship, and received training in painting restoration and appraisal. He worked at MSU Painting and Sculpture Museum between 1985 and 1997. In 1995, he completed his proficiency in art at the Faculty of Fine Arts at MU.

 

He has opened more than thirty personal exhibitions in private, domestic and abroad. The artist, who has participated in many mixed and group exhibitions at home and abroad, has participated in dozens of national and international workshops. His works are in the collections of institutions such as Akbank and Garanti Bank, as well as in Moscow Contemporary Art Museum, Japan, Tonami Municipality collection, and private collections of the United States, Russia, Italy, Germany, Romania, Greece, Austria, Slovenia and Japan. The works produced by the artist with his unique artistic understanding have been the important building blocks of Turkish Painting Art. His understanding and style of color and composition appear in his works as blotchy and abstract expressions, and from time to time as decorative and strong color aremonies. The artist, who continues to work as a Doctor Lecturer at Istanbul Gelişim University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Graphic Design Department, continues his artistic studies in his workshop in Istanbul.
