Aysun Cançat was born in 1977 in Istanbul. She graduated from Marmara University, Atatürk Education Faculty, Painting Teaching Department in 2006. After her undergraduate education, she started to work in the sector and worked as an art teacher at İSMEK (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Art and Vocational Training Courses) between 2006-2009.

Cançat completed her master’s degree at Istanbul Kultur University, Social Sciences Institute, Art Management Department in 2010, and worked as a Research Assistant at Istanbul Kultur University, Art Management Department between 2010-2011. She completed her doctorate in Marmara University, Atatürk Faculty of Education, Department of Art Teaching in 2015. Between 2014-2015, she worked as a lecturer at Çankırı Karatekin University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Painting Department. In 2016, she received the title of Doctor Lecturer at the same university and department. In 2016, she started to work as a PhD lecturer at Istanbul Gelişim University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Graphic Design Department. She was entitled to become an ‘Associate Professor’ in 2021 and still continues her duty with this title.

Aysun Cançat adopts a conceptual and contemporary understanding in her works. In addition, her works are in many institutions and private collections. She is a dynamic and productive artist who has participated in dozens of group and group exhibitions as well as solo exhibitions.
